VeriVote
Verify Candidates. Vote Confidently.
An independent Kenyan civic technology platform for evidence-based candidate evaluation.
An Independent Civic Technology Platform
VeriVote is an independent Kenyan civic technology platform focused on helping voters make informed electoral decisions through transparent, evidence-based candidate evaluation. As an initiative of the AHV Initiative — a civic technology organisation registered in Nairobi — our team brings together deep expertise in governance research, data science, journalism, public policy, and digital systems.
Together, we build tools that promote candidate transparency, public accountability, and voter education across Kenya. We believe that citizens deserve access to clear, verifiable, and evidence-based information that reflects how well candidates align with constitutional leadership and integrity standards.
VeriVote is strictly an independent information service. We do not administer elections, register voters, or manage any part of the electoral process. Our sole role is to provide accessible, verifiable data to help citizens evaluate candidates confidently and objectively.
Five Core Constitutional Pillars
We assess political candidates across five core constitutional pillars using a rigorous, data-driven framework built on 80 verifiable public indicators.
Character & Integrity
Direct alignment with national anti-corruption standards and past public leadership execution.
Institutional Accountability
Adherence to statutory compliance, audit queries, and institutional performance metrics.
Public Engagement & Inclusivity
Track record of public participation, community consultation, and constitutional inclusion mandates.
Policy Development & Strategic Vision
Evaluation of legislative manifestos, policy proposals, and developmental strategy feasibility.
Professional Experience & Competence
Review of prior institutional stewardship, professional track records, and technical execution capabilities.
VeriVote operates strictly as a data intelligence platform. We do not endorse candidates, we do not issue political opinions, and we do not rank aspirants based on popularity. We only provide structured, verifiable data.
Our Vision
A stronger, more resilient Kenyan democracy where citizens make informed choices and leaders uphold the highest standards of integrity, accountability, and public service.
Our Mission
To empower Kenyan voters with transparent, objective, and evidence-based tools and information to evaluate candidates, promote accountability, and strengthen democratic participation in line with the Constitution of Kenya 2010.
Our Core Values
Six values govern how scores are produced, how the platform communicates, and how it treats candidates, voters, and evidence.
Constitutional Fidelity
VeriVote operates as a strict mirror to Chapter Six (Leadership and Integrity) and Article 10 (National Values) of the Constitution of Kenya 2010. We will not alter scores under political pressure, accept payment for changes, or suppress unfavourable results. Our constitutional alignment is non-negotiable.
Objectivity
Scores are derived from publicly verifiable records only. No opinions, endorsements, anonymous tips, or political judgements are permitted. The methodology is applied identically to all candidates.
Transparency
The full scoring methodology is published. Every indicator, weight, and safeguard rule is documented and publicly accessible. No score is a black box.
Accessibility
VeriVote scores and explanations must be understandable to any Kenyan voter, regardless of education level or technical background. Plain language is a design requirement, not a choice.
Public Participation (Ushiriki wa Umma)
Active citizen engagement is the foundation of devolution and good governance. We translate dense public records into actionable insights so that voters can actively question and participate in governance beyond election day.
Empowerment
The platform exists to transfer real decision-making power back to voters. VeriVote provides objective evidence; it does not tell voters what to conclude. The goal is informed agency, not directed choice.
What VeriVote Is Not
To safeguard the operational clarity of the civic tech space and prevent any public or institutional misinterpretation, VeriVote explicitly outlines its institutional boundaries.
We Are Not an Online Voting Platform
No casting of ballots, parallel voter tallying, or election management occurs on this site.
We Are Not Affiliated with the IEBC
We operate completely separately from the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission and do not hold or manage state electoral mandates.
We Do Not Register Voters or Count Votes
We are strictly an information resource service; we do not engage in voter registration exercises or ballot counting.
We Do Not Endorse or Campaign for Any Candidate
A candidate's V-Score is a reflection of their verified historical record against fixed indicators — it is never a political endorsement or voting directive from VeriVote.
How VeriVote Works
The platform aggregates public data across 80 unique indicators to generate a final, weighted Constitutional Alignment Score (V-Score) ranging from 0 to 100. This score evaluates a candidate's historical track record against the wider framework of the Constitution of Kenya 2010, grounding its core metrics fundamentally in Chapter Six (Leadership and Integrity) and Article 10 (National Values), while factoring in broader constitutional mandates regarding public service standards, inclusivity, and devolution performance.
This final score is put through strict system safeguards, including Category Floor Rules (capping scores if an aspirant scores below 30 in any single pillar) and Integrity Vetos (triggering automatic "Constitutionally Unfit" designations if active statutory disqualifications exist).
